Kettering Town FC

As we head into the final two matches of the 2013/2014 season, Kettering Town find themselves in the mix for a play-off spot and some still dare to dream of automatic promotion.  But all is not guaranteed, especially with the visit of the league leaders, Daventry Town to Latimer Park on Bank Holiday Monday, who themselves will be looking for revenge following their 0-3 defeat to the Poppies at Communications Park back in March - Kettering Town will then have a tough final league game of the season at North Greenford United the following Saturday.

Some still have to pinch themselves that the Poppies find themselves occupying one of the top 5 places of the Calor League Division One Central following a nightmare start to the campaign.  Losing the first 3 matches, conceeding 10 goals and only scoring one and then came the bombshell of officially being wound-up in the High Courts of Justice back in September only for the Club to successfully appeal and overturn the ruling following amazing support from all around the world from Kettering Town and football lovers alike from who messages of support and encouragement continue to flood in.

Monday's match could see Kettering Town cement their play-off spot, or if things don't go their way, it could be Daventry Town who end up celebrating at Latimer Park by securing the title in front of what is expected to be a bumper crowd for the final scheduled game of the season.

We hope to see as many people as possible at Latimer Park in what  will be a great day of football which will no doubt see many twists and turns as scores filter through from other matches in the division, which could spark a carnival atmosphere for one of the two teams competing or will we need to wait until the final day of the season to decide the final placings?

There's only one way to find out! See you at Latimer Park!

Hillsborough Disaster - 25th Anniversary Tribute

Justice for the 96

As every football supporter will know, the English FA are marking this coming weekend as a tribute to the 96 Liverpool supporters who lost their lives at Hillsborough 25 years ago.

The English FA are arranging each football match over the weekend to kick-off  7 minutes later than originally scheduled marking the anniversary of the match that took place on April 15, 1989 that was called off after six minutes. Poppies Radio will also pay tribute and begin broadcasting 7 minutes later than usual at 2.52pm.

We hope all our listeners will show support, as the 'Justice of the 96' campaign continues to dominate the headlines as families and friends of the supporters who were killed seek answers to what exactly happened on that day 25 years ago.

Poppies Radio would like to extend our thoughts and best wishes to all the friends and families affected by the tragedy and 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

The thousands of pledges and donations that Kettering supporters, football fans and well-wishers from all over the world made to the #SaveKetteringTown fund have paid off.  Kettering Town FC fought back from what some people thought was an impossible situation after being officially wound-up at the Royal Courts of Justice on the 2nd September 2013.

On Monday 7th October 2013, the 140 year history of Kettering Town and its long term future was secured following a return to the Royal Courts of Justice by Club representaives, where a rescission order was granted by the judge and an agreement reached with Rushden & Diamonds 2008 Ltd.

Poppies Radio interviewed the Kettering Town Chairman on his return to Northamptonshire following a day at the Royal Courts of Justice and Ritchie Jeune confirmed that the agreement will be paid before returning to court again on the 4th November 2013 to have the winding-up petition removed.

Kettering Town Football Club is SAVED and the Club look to move forward.  With the help and support of all the loyal fans, Kettering Town can once again, finally, become the Club Kettering can be proud of.
